History

Massive Sim 32 was founded on 3 May 2021, during a time when much of the world was locked down and disconnected. Like many others, people were stuck at home—missing social interaction, routine, and the simple joy of shared experiences. Massive Sim 32 was created to change that.

The idea, however, began even earlier. In the first year of the COVID pandemic, our founder experimented with a light-hearted drone podcast, aiming to bring laughter, information, and connection to people navigating the uncertainty of lockdown life. That experience planted the seed for something bigger.

As the pandemic continued, personal challenges followed. Job loss, isolation, and the sudden absence of everyday social contact took a toll. Rather than give in, the decision was made to take action—to build a space where people from all over the world could come together, talk, laugh, and fly.

That space became Massive Sim 32.

What started as a simple Discord server quickly grew into a supportive, welcoming flight simulation community. Microsoft Flight Simulator and the people flying together within MS32 became more than just a hobby—they became a lifeline. A place of connection, purpose, and shared passion during one of the most difficult periods many of us have ever faced.

Since those early days, Massive Sim 32 has grown rapidly. Today, the community hosts four main events each week, along with special fly-ins and major events throughout the year. Despite full-time work commitments, a huge amount of time and care continues to be poured into ensuring the community remains active, organised, and welcoming to pilots of all skill levels.

Podcasting remains a passion too, and future sim-related projects involving the community are always on the horizon.

And for those who’ve ever wondered about the name—the “32” holds personal meaning. It’s a tribute to childhood sporting hero Tim Watson, legendary Essendon captain, who wore the number 32. His iconic leap and goal remain a reminder of inspiration, resilience, and getting back up when it matters most.

Massive Sim 32 is more than a flight simulation group. It’s a community born from adversity, built on connection, and sustained by people helping one another through shared experiences—both in the virtual skies and beyond.
